Brief Description
A popular trail across the limestone plateau of the High Peak, followed by descents down to High Peak Junction. The last mile is along the Cromford Canal back to Cromford.
This is a linear walk, so you will need to arrange transport to and from the start and finish points.
Details
Head south from the Parsley Hay visitors centre.
At the fork take the left hand fork for the High Peak Trail. The right hand fork is the Tissington Trail.
Follow the trail for 14 miles till you arrive at the canal at High Peak Junction. It's that simple!
Cross the canal on the swing bridge, turn left and follow the towpath back the mile to Cromford Wharf.
Information
There are no facilities or shops on the first 12 miles of the walk, until you reach Middleton Top. Take sufficient supplies.
This is a limestone plateau and so drains very quickly. There are no streams or pools for dogs to get a drink. Take sufficient water for your dogs.
Mobile phone (Orange) reception is good along the trail.
