Details
From Miller's Dale station take the Monsal Trail east towards Litton Mill and Monsal Head.
After a mile you will need to take the path off to the left as the tunnel ahead is closed.
The path is signed as Monsal Trail Link via Linton Mill.
Drop down and cross the river into the mill complex.
Turn left and head towards the big mill building. The mill has been converted into apartments. Ignore the signs saying private property etc. There is a permissive path through the site.
Pass through the main gates and head along keeping the mill building to your right.
At the end of the building the path sweeps right and rejoins the river.
Continue to follow the river down stream.
Continue to follow the path until you reach the delightful Cressbook Mill.
Cross the river and follow the path that climbs across the fields to rejoin the Monsal Trail.
Follow the Monsal trail to the viaduct at Monsal Head.
If you want a rest you could make your way up to the village just above the railway. There is often an ice cream van in summer.
At the western end of the viaduct take the footpath off the south, marked to Brushfield.
The path heads up away from the valley in a westerly direction.
Follow the path up. when it joins the track continue in the same direction.
Continue following the farm track across the fields.
Keep going west for 1.25 miles. Pass through the farm yard.
Turn right after the farm, heading up hill towards the next farm
Cross the farm yard, with the buildings on your left.
follow the lane for 0.75 mile where the path makes a sharp turn to the left onto Bulltor Lane.
Follow Bulltor lane . The lane swings left as it joins Broadway Lane.
Continue down Broadway Lane past the farm buildings and onto Priestcliffe Road.
Follow Priestcliffe Road to the cross roads with Hollow O' The Moor.
Turn Right. After 100m the road swings right and a track signed The Limestone Way continues straight on. Take the Limestone Way.
The Limestone Trail heads north for nearly a mile, as it steadily drops down towards Miller's Dale.
The Track opens onto the B6049. Turn right and head down towards Miller's Dale.
This is an unrestricted section of road and some drivers are traveling too fast. The road curves to the right, giving poor visibility if you walk on the right facing the on coming traffic.
I crossed the road and walked on the left were there is a bit more room on the verge and much better viability.
On reaching Miller's Dale take the left turn up the hill and back to the station car park.
